When we do podcasts, it's like listening to a friend. The voice is a powerful medium that connects expertise with familiarity. For me, podcasting is so fun because I get to meet new people, learn something new, and share it with others.
Personal Branding
You don't need 10,000 followers to have domain expertise. Many don't. People remember you for the things you accomplish and how it personally affects them. Some people don't have the confidence to share their work, but it's important to understand what you accomplish is important.
Book Layout Design and Structure
I dabble in book design and made a cool game called Interns in the Dark. It's a full 280-page colored book with original art made by my friends and is sold in the Bay Area. It was such a fun project to get off the ground. Anyway, now I know how to do book design and that's also a very powerful way to establish domain expertise.
